The International Centre Domus galilaeae was laid ("roll"; Latin Domus Galilaeae) Is a school forpriests, and meeting Center and retreat center of The Neocatechumenal way (Spanish Camino Neocatecumenal)Catholic. The Center is located on the Beatitudes near chorazin, Church of the Beatitudes, overlooking the North coast of the sea of Galilee.
The initiative to establish the Center was of Pope Paul VI in the mid- 70s of the 20th century. On15 January 1999 was laid the cornerstone in the presence of the LatinPatriarch inJerusalem, Michel Sabah, Secretary of the Vatican Council, Ambassador to the Holy See (Nunzio.) in Israel and many dignitaries. The Center, officially inaugurated after completing the construction of one wing, during the visit of Pope John Paul II inIsrael onMarch 24, 2000. The Center started in 2003.
The aim of the Center is to study Israel's tradition as a source of Christianity and rituals in order to deepen the relationship between Christianity andJudaism, as well as internships insermon due to tradition and Jewish liturgy.
The area is 12,000 square meters and it is estate-an area of 33 acres. The structure is divided into three levels. On the upper level are the Auditorium (gatherings), a church, a synagogue, a library that is defined as a theological library hosted by theVatican that combines Christian and Jewish religious books with 12 chairs as Israel tribes around the Torah. Both levels are set in one hundred living rooms, 200 total accommodation.
